STUDENT MENTORS AND TUTORS This program makes use of the life's lessons and expertise of our senior volunteers. Through this they develop a meaningful relationship with the youth of Washington County. Previous positions included:
SHO is eager to work with the local school departments, volunteer groups, and parents organizations to place senior volunteers in various positions that maximize their helpfulness and positive influence. SHO believes that a partnership between local schools and its organization benefits all involved by encouraging personal growth and developing intergenerational relationships. Office staff will match volunteers with programs assisting children in pre-schools, elementary schools, and secondary schools. Volunteers can work supervised in small groups or one-on-one to meet the needs of the school and the students. Volunteers are also available to share a particular skill or experience on a one-time only basis. If your school is in Washington County or Jamestown, and you would like to investigate the use of our services, please call SHO at (401) 789-2362 or e-mail us at seniors-rsvp@netsense.net |
